Sports and Entertainment:
If you’re looking for entertainment, you will find the Hotel SPA Porta Maris in the perfect location. On one side are the harbor’s restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops, the city’s pleasant, carefree historic center and the Explanada Avenue’s hotels and restaurants. On the other side is the Western Pier which houses the Panoramis shopping center, a large covered area where you will find entertainment, shopping, restaurants, bars and a cinema.
Without a doubt, the Santa Cruz neighborhood, with its narrow, sloping streets and facades dotted with flowers, is home to the city’s most charming and unique niches.
When it’s time to go shopping, don’t forget Alicante’s leather goods (shoes, bags, wallets, clothing), toys, ceramics, turrones, local wines, etc.
Give in to temptation and savour the exquisite dishes that make up Alicante’s cuisine: rice and its multiple varieties, the bay’s typical seafood, as well as the vegetables of the nearby Vega Baja region.
It’s easy and convenient to enjoy both sports and the sea near the Hotel SPA Porta Maris. Between 5 and 15 km from the hotel, there are four golf courses: the nearest and most modern is located on the San Juan beach. The Bonalba (Mutxamel), Plantío (Bacarot) and Alenda (Monforte del Cid), where we can enjoy 18 hole courses and all of the services necessary to practice this sport, are also nearby.
Other sports can be practiced at the Tossal Sports Park where there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, two of which are heated and one of which is Olympic size, football and athletics stadiums, an indoor sports center, a sports complex and a gymnastics center. Some of these facilities have been used as venues for European and World championships.
Sea or mountain; tranquility or excitement; forests or beaches; tradition or modernity, all of these options are possible in Alicante’s surrounding areas, where, on the road to the airport, we find the site where the Ciudad del Cine project (a giant film studio complex) will be completed under the supervision of Luis García Berlanga. |
